Real light therapy comes down to two measurable variables: wavelength and how deep it reaches. Here's the actual mechanism, without the marketing gloss.
The electromagnetic spectrum, briefly
Visible light runs roughly 380nm to 700nm. Human eyes see red at the very top of that range, around 620-700nm. Near-infrared picks up where visible light ends, invisible to the eye, starting around 700nm and running past 1000nm. That's not a Revival claim, it's how the spectrum is defined.
Why depth is a real, physical difference
Skin and the tissue underneath scatter and absorb shorter (visible) wavelengths more than longer (near-infrared) ones. That's why 660nm visible red gets absorbed mostly at the surface, while 850nm near-infrared, invisible to the eye, travels further before it's absorbed. Two wavelengths running at once means two different depths are getting exposed in the same session, not the same thing twice.
What's actually happening at the cellular level
The general mechanism this category of light is built around is called photobiomodulation: red and near-infrared wavelengths in this range are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, an enzyme inside mitochondria, the part of a cell responsible for producing energy. That absorption is the proposed reason light in this specific range is used the way it is. It's a description of a mechanism, not a promise of a specific result for any specific person, and it's not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Dose is wavelength × distance × time, not just wavelength
Light intensity (irradiance) drops off the further you are from the source, and total exposure (dose) is roughly irradiance multiplied by session length. That's the real reason every product page lists a specific recommended distance and session length instead of "as long as you want, from wherever." Standing closer or further than what's listed, or running a much longer or shorter session, changes the actual dose you're getting.
Why the driver matters — flicker and EMF
An LED panel's driver (the internal circuit that regulates power to the LEDs) determines whether the light output is a steady beam or a rapid on-off flicker at the power line frequency. Flicker isn't always visible to casual observation, but it's a real factor in whether sitting in front of a light source for ten minutes is comfortable or eye-straining. Low-EMF driver design reduces the electromagnetic field given off by that same circuit. Both are genuine electrical engineering specs, not a claim about what the light itself does to the body.
Wavelengths across the Revival catalog
Different products in the lineup use different real wavelength combinations, sourced and confirmed per product rather than standardized across the whole catalog:
- 630nm / 660nm — visible red, surface-absorbed. Used across every panel, wrap, band, and mat in the lineup.
- 810nm / 830nm / 850nm — near-infrared, deeper-reaching. The 5-wavelength panels (Glimmer, Flare, Corona) run all three alongside 630/660nm; the dual-wavelength panels (Ember, Blaze, Glow) and the wearables (Wrap, Band, Belt, Hand Band, Hat, Mat) pair 660nm with 850nm specifically.
- 650nm / 808nm — the Wand's own pairing, a different source and spec than the panel line, built for direct, close-contact handheld use.
Dome and Halo run multiple visible-light color modes and a red/near-infrared combination respectively, without a single confirmed per-color wavelength figure to publish, so we describe those the way they're actually specified rather than inventing precision that isn't there.
